Welcome to the Castlebay  Hotel

COME TO BARRA TO RECHARGE YOUR SOUL

The Castlebay Hotel commands spectacular panoramic views over the natural harbour, ancient Kisimul Castle and the island of Vatersay beyond. The hotel provides a welcoming, comfortable and central base where you can eat great food, sample good wine and meet like minded guests, and even enjoy a pint in the pub next door with the locals!

It’s central location means that it's only a couple of minutes walk from the Oban ferry terminal and town centre where you’ll find a bank, post office and indian restaurant. The hotel has 15 rooms, a busy restaurant and the Castlebay Bar which is renowned for it's live music throughout the year.

Barra has often been described as the “Hebrides in Miniature” with its beautiful beaches, backed by ‘machair’ (meadows filled with wildflowers), its rocky eastern coast, and hilly interior. It is an island where you can walk, explore, play golf, take a boat trip, go kayaking, watch the wildlife – or just take it easy!

What our Guests Say

We had a really special stay in the hotel. The MacNeil room has a fabulous view over the bay and we could even see across to Vatersay! Then a hop, skip and a jump to the morning ferry back to Oban.

We had a delicious meal in the hotel. The biggest hand dived scallops we have ever seen. Really good wine list and the steak pie hit the spot after a days walking around the island.

We had a great four days staying in the hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were lucky enough to stay whilst a local band was playing the pub. What a great night it was!!
